Joe Heck On Ending Birthright Citizenship: “If You’re Going To Be Considered A Citizen, You Should Be Born To At Least One Parent That’s A U.S. Citizen.” According to Rep. Joe Heck’s (R-NV) comments at a town hall meeting, “I believe there’s a bill by Steve King out of Iowa that would end birthright citizenship. You know, I think that – my personal opinion is that if you’re going to be a citizen, if you’re going to be considered a citizen, you should be born to at least one parent that’s a U.S. citizen. I do believe that that’s the way it should be. We are the only industrialized nation that still grants birthright citizenship, and I think that while I have not signed on as a cosponsor of that bill, I think that it’s something that warrants discussion.” According to PolitiFact, Heck’s claim that America is “the only industrialized nation that still grants birthright citizenship” is false.
